Save the planet, and look good doing it!
Melt Agency is a line of beeswax wraps made by friends and icons Ali and Annabel out of London. So, are you wondering what’s so exciting about a line of kitchen staples? Luckily for you, the girls were kind enough to fill us in on their journey and their colourful, sexy, pop-culture inspired ethos.
Melt Agency is all on the subject of creating a community of like-minded people who want to save the planet & look good doing it. As many of us know, there are plenty of beeswax wraps on the market these days, but for the average student/artist/professional hot person they are a pretty pricey commodity. We all want to help the planet, but it can be hard to persuade someone to spend money on something they don’t like the look of. And screaming for your attention at this intersection between practicality and fashion is Melt Agency.
Deep down in a London lockdown, the girls behind Melt decided to put all their energy into a seemingly unexciting idea they had been talking about for a while. But unexciting is one word we do not use to describe Melt’s line of wraps. Laden with bright collages of pop-culture references and maximalist designs, these wraps are destined to make your picnic the most trendy and fashionable on Instagram. To make it even better, Ali and Annabel had only met one month before beginning the project, so it has a huge part in their friendship which is CUTE.
Equally bored by what was available on the eco market, Ali and Annabel set out to create a line of must-have products. Annabel, equipped with a BA in Fashion Design, created the collages, and Ali, who has a BA in Industrial and Product Design, got the social media up and running. From there momentum picked up and the girls have been able to bounce off each other and launched the first collection of Zodiac wraps in May.
As we know in this digital age, it’s important that a brand stays relevant in their designs, so Melt is constantly looking for inspiration – artists, designers, food, pop culture & their friends. They were also inspired by companies like Keep Cup that have made owning sustainable alternatives not only respectable, but the trendy thing to do. Which is what they aim to do with Melt– sustainable products that don’t compromise on sexiness.
All that Melt can do is hope that their current and prospective customers can understand that helping the planet shouldn’t be a bore, or something that you ‘should do’; it’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s COOL, it will probably help you get laid too.
Melt’s maximalist and iconic journey doesn’t end here, though. They have some very exciting collaborations coming soon (so secret not even we got to know), and are looking to expand their range of products in the future. They are also hoping to be stocked in stores IRL by the end of this year.
