Through hand-drawn and digital mediums, Lotus typically depicts cartoon-like characters in her distinctive style. Lotus’ illustrative practice interprets her influences of cartoons and comic books she grew up watching and reading merged with the people that have stood out to her in her everyday passing.

A life absorbed by visuals, Lotus believes that art and design are ubiquitous. To her, every single colour and shape is an inspiration. She lives amongst the art that’s not typically recognised as art. Colour and shape will always be Lotus’ life-long companions - in ways nobody could ever understand, absorbing each of her ever present moments.

Lotus’ expression of art is mostly subconscious, endeavouring the creative process with an intuitive approach. This allows her mind to pour onto the art spontaneously, commonly embedding themes and feelings without prior thought. Almost like using design and art as her own developed and refined visual journal.

For the most part, Lotus illustrates. Yet recently, she has been diversifying her avenues with sculpture, adding a third dimension to her unique caricatures and evolving her fictitious worlds into reality. The act of sculpting is Lotus’ preferred artistic expression as she refers to it as her “therapy”. Although creating with her hands is what she loves the most, the boundless spectrum of what digital mediums can achieve is undeniably alluring to Lotus.
