Lily short film
Demure chats to Alyssa Moller (she/they), a writer and director based in Naarm who lives, studies and works on Bunurong country. A student of the Swinburne Bachelor of Film and Television, her new short film Lily is a super personal story about a mother daughter relationship, and the anxiety that Lily (the daughter) projects about her mum not loving her. The film, shot on 16mm film, uses beautiful floral motifs and images of disease to express such anxieties of teenagers.

George Downing and Isabella Venutti are a creative team workingin Naarm/Melbourne. K this is the end, is a series of images and accompanying prose that occupy the deliciously muddy territory between the hyper feminine and the playfully demonic. This piece conjures merges various aethetics, words and references that act as a bizarre negotiation of identity experienced by their teenage selves.
Years and Years
Sam Sweeney (she/her) is a writer and climate campaigner living in Naarm on unceded Boon Wurrung land. Her work is often self-referential and explores making sense of the things that once didn’t. Years and years is a fragmented and intimate piece of creative memoir about the long, invalidating process of getting an endometriosis diagnosis, about women’s pain, about the bittersweetness of having the language to describe traumatic experiences.
