How did your painting begin?

I guess it was a very natural progression. From a young age I've just always been drawn to the more creative things in life so for me, drawing and painting has just been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Have you always been interested in creating?

Always. Whenever I have an idea in need to develop it and create it, I need to put it in physical form so I can visualise it and share it.

Was it difficult to develop your own style?

My style is forever developing and I think that's the beauty of it all. My style is formed through so much experimenting over time and I can't imagine that experimentation ever ending, otherwise I'd probably get quite bored.

What inspires your work?

So many things. We are lucky that we live in an age where we can go on our phones and scroll down a screen of incredible inspiration at all times. There's some insanely good artwork out there and I find myself feeling inspired by at least one thing every day.

How do you stay motivated?

I'd love to say that I'm motivated all the time, but I'm most definitely not. Sometimes deadlines can trap me in a paralysis and I find myself in a creative rut. Sometimes I just get a pen and start drawing freely, I find this just helps my mind re-frame ideas. Most of my artwork ideas are formed through doodling on a piece of paper.

Are you emotionally connected to your work?

I love this question because just the other day I was looking at art that I had created many years ago – I remembered exactly where I was when I painted each painting and my emotions at the time, not only did I remember my emotions towards the paintings but also how I was feeling in my life at that stage. It was almost as though I was looking at old photographs.

Your work is colourful and exhibits warm tones, do you choose colours based off of how you feel?

The colours that I am drawn to within my paintings often represent the colours that I am drawn to in my everyday life. I find that the colours in my painting often reflect the colours that I'm wearing in my daily life. I think my evolution of colour is just a natural thing and I just go with what my eyes are drawn to.

Your art celebrates the female body and its most natural, raw form. Would you say this is seen through your entire works or just of recent?

I've forever been drawn to the human body, I mean, aren't we all? It's a beautiful thing. I'd say that women's bodies were one of the first things I seriously started drawing. I probably started drawing boobs before I even had a pair of my own.
